A learning group of nine CKLC Reading Club students, headed by Resident Fellow Ms. Sisi SUN, visited the Joint Publishing Hong Kong on 3 October 2018. Joint Publishing is a chain book store and publisher. It publishes and sells a lot of Chinese and English books. Joint Publishing encourages the idea of “Cultural Care and Sweet Life”. During the visit, the students got an opportunity to communicate with managers and editors at HK Joint Publishing, and exposed themselves to editing, typesetting, publishing and sales that they would not have learned in the classroom.

In the afternoon, students visited the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences which is housed in the Old Pathological Institute. The museum building was built in 1906 and it is known as an excellent example of building-heritage. Upon the visit, students learned more about the past, present and future of health and medical science development of Hong Kong. The learning group also visited the University Museum & Art Gallery of the University of Hong Kong. The traditional and modern Chinese painting collections brought our students go through from the Ming Period to the 21st century.

This one-day learning trip to Hong Kong enabled the students to touch the world with a broader knowledge of topics, not just their major. It also allows them to express various viewpoints and opens up a broader discussion. The trip definitely helps to cultivate then students to become well-rounded individuals.
