Lantern Festival is one of most important and interesting festivals in China. This traditional festival falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Lunar Calendar and it marks the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations. CKLC organized dumpling DIY workshop and sweet soup ball gathering to celebrate this meaningful festival with our students. Over 60 students participated in this event.

College Master Professor Zhang Meifang invited chefs from Yingyuan restaurant and CKLC non-resident fellow Professor Xu Minhui to explain to our students in detail on how to make dumpling skin from dough, how to make different filings (meat, vegetarian, mixed), and how to fold and pleat a dumpling using different methods. After the teaching workshop, students then started to make their own dumplings and showed off their own special dumplings to other peers.

Of course, sweet soup ball should not be missing. Professor Zhang had prepared the cooked sweet soup ball for everyone. In the end, students and staff sat together to enjoy their dumplings and sweet soup ball. The entire dining hall was filled with a festive atmosphere.
