On March 6, 2018, Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) held the 2nd high table dinner in the academic year 2017/2018. This dinner was especially remarkable and delightful due to the presence of Mr. Cheong Kun Lun and Mr. Cheong Lok Tin, father and son, the donors of the residential college.
In spite of his busy schedule, Professor Song Yonghua, Rector of the University of Macau, came to the cocktail reception and welcomed Mr. Cheong Kun Lun. Rector Song spoke highly of Mr. Cheong’s generous donation to the University to support its residential college system. Mr. Cheong Kun Lun also demonstrated his calligraphy skills by writing the College name on rice paper and presented it to College Master Dr. Yu Xiaoming. Delighted to receive the gift, Dr. Yu assured Mr. Cheong of keeping it in the College’s treasure collection and also using it on the College’s prints.
In his remarks at the dinner, Dr. Yu shared with the audience the progress CKLC has made in the past 7 months and more work ahead. Professor Deng Chuxia, Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences, delivered a speech on “Health and Longevity,” which generated a wide interest among the audience. During the dinner, those students who were recognized for their “Outstanding student leaders”, “Great Contributions”, and “Good Person” were presented with award certificates. CKLC students gave wonderful art performances. Guests, both internal and external, CKLC resident fellows and non-residential fellows were invited to the high table dinner, conversing with the students. The wonderful event will surely stay in everyone’s fine memory.
