Cheong Kun Lun College Successfully Holds The First United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Knowledge Integration Competition

Competition Overview

On the evening of April 1, 2025, Cheong Kun Lun College at University of Macau successfully hosted its inaugural Knowledge Integration Competition centered on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Held grandly at the W34 College Hall, the three-and-a-half-hour event aimed to cultivate seven core learning competencies among students through innovative practices: responsible citizenship, global competitiveness, knowledge integration, teamwork and collaboration, service and leadership, cultural engagement, and healthy lifestyle.

Five Selected Teams Presented Distinctive Sustainable Development Initiatives:

  1. Bicycle Sharing at the University of Macau

The team designed a campus smart bike-sharing system aimed at reducing commuting time costs while providing a more convenient and eco-friendly transportation option.

  1. Pure Rain Revival

Focused on sustainable water resource utilization, this project developed a multifunctional integrated rainwater collection and purification system. It promotes civilian use of recycled water through a “green points” incentive mechanism.

  1. Heart Bud

Addressing adolescents’ mental health needs, this initiative proposes an improvement plan and emphasizes preventive measures through parental education. It also advocates for peer-to-peer support systems.

  1. Campusy

This project aims to bridge campus information gaps by building an online resource-sharing platform. It encourages supply-demand exchanges and resource swaps to circulate idle items, advancing sustainable development and enabling green resource recycling.

  1. Skyrise Synergy

The team seeks to transform the college’s rooftop space into a “cloud oasis” integrating sustainable agriculture, environmental education, and community collaboration. It raises eco-awareness among students and encourages food scraps collection for composting, coupled with odor-control solutions to achieve resource recycling.

The competition invited a cross-disciplinary panel of eight experts, specializing in the field of commerce and sustainable development to form the judging committee, with professional support from Cheong Kun Lun College’s Fellows and College Affiliates, ensuring a comprehensive and objective evaluation. The judging process emphasized innovation and imagination, feasibility and potential, practical application of academic knowledge, social impact, as well as presentation and Q&A skills. Ultimately, under the premise of fostering friendly academic exchange, after rigorous evaluation of live presentations and defense sessions by five competing teams, “Skyrise Synergy” claimed the championship, followed by “Campusy” being the first runner-up and “Pure Rain Revival” as the second runner-up. Additionally, “Bicycle Sharing at the University of Macau” and “Heart Bud” received the finalist awards.

The event attracted nearly 100 faculty and students as spectators, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere. Participants noted that the competition not only enhanced their professional competencies but also deepened their understanding of sustainable development and strengthened their sense of social responsibility. Cheong Kun Lun College remains committed to cultivating well-rounded innovators with moral integrity through diverse community engagements and practical activities.

Significance and Educational Philosophy

The successful hosting of the inaugural United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Knowledge Integration Competition marks a significant milestone in Cheong Kun Lun College’s innovative educational endeavors.
