Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) hosted the 1st Master’s Dinner and to celebrate the end of the semester at the CKLC dining hall on 28 November 2018. Over 130 participants attended the dinner, including College staff, Non-Resident Fellows and Affiliates and students.
Prof. Zhang Meifang, the College Master, opened the ceremony with welcome remarks and an introduction of the distinguished guests. In her remarks, Prof. Zhang gave an overview of the recent achievements of the College and the coming activities at W34. She praised the efforts and contributions of college students and encouraged them to participate in more college activities. Apart from an opening remark by College Master, we also invited House Associate (HA) president – Ms. Rita Law to give a speech. She reflected on the completed tasks in the past semester, also encouraged students to overcome difficulties actively and participate in more college activities.
After the opening remark and speech, in recognition of the efforts of college students in various activities including Inter-College competitions, the College Master Prof. Zhang and Associate Master Dr. Kevin Huang presented the appreciation certificates and gifts to the basketball team, football team, cheerleading team, college band (CLOCK) and reading club. In the meantime, Cheong Kun Lun College also distributed the UM foundation Scholarship in four different areas which included CKLC Model student award, Leadership award, Contribution award and active participation award. In total, 24 students received the awards. Apart from the UM foundation scholarship, two different CKLC awards were given to the students who had either made great contributions to the college or presented great leadership skill in the past years. It included the Leadership award and Contribution award. In total, 16 students were selected to receive the awards.
During the dinner, our new College Band gave an excellent performance and a lucky draw was conducted to celebrate the end of the semester, which highlighted the atmosphere of the evening.
When the dinner almost came to an end, the College Master, Associate Master, guests and the college staff proposed a big group photo with college students. After the dinner, students took photos with the guests and their fellow students in the dining hall. We all had a wonderful and warming evening.
